Christmas Parade 2011 in BoulderCity

Getting lined up for the Christmas parade in Boulder City. We have had and will have lots of fun Christmas shows this year!~
Upcoming shows and parades-
Dec 3 – Boulder City Electric Light Night Parade The parade will go down the road at 4:30 .Line up at 3:30on Utah Street.
…we will wear Santa hats, Red Brenda Shirts and black pants with a silver sequin belt.(I have belts at the studio for sale $2) The kids can bring 2 flashlights to wave around! Tumblers will want to wear gloves~ Dress warm under the red shirts~
** Go to second light in BC and make a right. Turn left at Adams Street and then a left onto Utah Street to find us. If anyone loves to decorate with lights let me know..I’m up for anything!
Dec 10 Winter fest… show at 1:00. line up 12:45. This show will be outside at the amp theater on Water Street behind the Henderson convention Center. WE will wear red shirts and NOT COSTUMES this year. IT has been so cold in the past so lets save our costumes~
Dec 10 Henderson’s Electric Christmas Parade- starts at 5:00 line up 4:30-Down Water Street

Our first show of the season is a success! Lots of dancers showed up to the sr housing to do a show for the residents. They smiled and entertained! Everyone looked sharp in their Brendas dance shirts and silver belts. hair tied back and happy faces. Good job dancers and cloggers!~

Great news~~ I changed to mall performance to 6:00 so the many Walker Elementary students I have can still make it to the show AND their school carnival a little late but still they can do both "fun things". I hope this works out for everyone! Some of the show numbers have partners and formations so please let me know this week if you will not be able to make it to that show. I need to know...especially for the tumblers routines. Otherwise I will plan on everyone being there.

Hi all,
The first week of dance and tumbling went great. All the classes are so much fun.
It's so good to have their smiles back in the studio!! We are working on Halloween dances for our first show~
COSTUMES: I have got costumes picked out and pictures hung in the studio. Feel free to come check them out. I measured your children at class to see if they need a bigger size this year than last year. Remember the $50 was due with your September payment ... Thank for getting that in! I need to get the order in so we will have them by Christmas.
SHIRTS: Everyone who ordered new Red Brenda's t-shirts should have gotten them. If you paid for one and didn't get it please come see me. If you forgot to order one, get your $10 in and I'll get it to you. ASAP
SHOES AND TIGHTS:I can order more but I need to have 10 items to get these prices.
Tumbling shoes: I have ordered a few for those tumblers who didn't get them the first day..most are in. Hopefully the back ordered ones will be in next week or so.
Ballet shoes: I ordered 5 pair to sell. They are at the studio. I have a 11,12,13,1, and 2 they are only $13
White Tights: I have some nice white tights for sale in the studio for $6.

Dec 3 @4:00 down the road at 4:30 – PARADE -Boulder City Electric Light Night Parade …we will wear Santa hats, Red Brenda Shirts and black pants with a silver sequin belt.(I’ll make some belts to sell at the studio closer to the parade) The kids can bring 2 flashlights to wave around! If anyone loves to decorate with lights let me know..I’m up for anything!

Dec 10 Winter fest… show at 1:00. This show will be in our new dance costumes at the amp theater on Water Street behind the Henderson convention Center. More info later
Dec 17 at 6:00 pm Magical Forest at the Opportunity Village-(Im calling Debbie Smith Coordinator-880-4081) We will get a free ticket for the dancers… but parents and family will need to pay. Doors open at 5:30 and the show will start at 6:00, you may stay after to enjoy the lights and entertainment.

1. STUDIO RULES: Smile and have a good attitude, No gum, Hair tied up or back, Girls will be expected to wear a leotard to all classes that include ballet or tumbling. Please wear a leotard and dance shoes to every class, No running in studio before class or after, No tumbling on premises unless instructor is present, No Visitors!
2. FEE's are due the first lesson of the month…$35.00 per month. For your convenience you may pay $375.00 for the year Sept – May. ..which includes the $10 review fee due in April from every student and a costume. (T shirt $10 extra)
** Note: $10 extra with first month pmt for T-shirt

5. Drive carefully in neighborhood. Do not enter circle. Pick up child next to my house rather than across the street to avoid accidents. Please carpool whenever possible. Enter through studio door in the back of my house. Be EXTRA KIND to my neighbors…. Drive Smart!!!
6. Shoes- I have some used tap and ballet and clog shoes in the studio for sale. Feel free to call before the first week of classes to buy them. Don’t wait till the class, we have lots to do at class!
7. DANCERS –A Leotard (studio preference is black) and white or pink tights. BLACK tap shoes, WHITE ballet shoes. (Monday 5:45 dancers will need BLACK jazz shoes, BLACK high heel tap shoes, but NO white ballets.)
8. TUMBLERS – Please wear a leotard and shorts to class! Buy WHITE tumbling shoes. (I will order more tumbling shoes the first week of class…If you are interested, send cash or a check for $18.00 along with your monthly pmt and state the size. I do have a few in stock.)
9. CLOGGERS – Shirt and shorts are appropriate to wear for clogging! Buy WHITE clog shoes. order from Carl’s Clog Supply @1-800-848-6366. Ask for HOWDOWNERS WITH BUCK TAPS INSTALLED. Please order a little big so they will last the whole year. If you have a wide foot order men sizes. ORDER EARLY SO YOU WILL HAVE THEM FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF CLASS!!(THEY COST AROUND $60 + ) You can also get them at Dance for less in Green Valley
Advanced Cloggers may order new toe stand clog shoes....Call me or email me for information.

Spring Chocolate Parade
This year we were #7 in the Henderson Spring Parade! Jon and Sana Cain drove their truck and trailer down the parade! Thanks to them! The kids that wanted to ride, rode and smiled, down the road as the dancers that wanted to dance strutted their stuff to the Music of "Thats what Dreams are made of" We all had a fun time and enjoyed some chocolate at the end of the parade . Thanks to all that came out to make this parade a lot of fun as usual!

Lets have fun and dance down the road to the Irish music. This parade is new to us this year!!!! Lets make it really fun!!! The little ones will ride in the trailer or truck that Sarah Bonwells parents are driving. Tumblers can tumble and Cloggers will dance to Galway Girl

Carnival Rides are a separate fee if you want to ride the rides. They usually have discount tickets until 10 days before on the internet.

BC Christmas Lights Parade
This years Parade was so much fun!!!! Everyone had a good time marching down the street to "Jingle Bells" while the parents and siblings rode in the trailer smiling and "laughing all the way"! I didn' see any bells on bobtails ring but we sure had a good time. Megan Harris family drove the truck and trailer and we especially give them a big THANKS~

May 8- 4:30- Art Fest in costumes, We will have 1/2 hour to do a show at the jail grounds across from the library in the show mobile. There is bad seating so bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. No place to change costumes either so wear a leotard under your costume or layer costumes so you can change in public. Make sure to let me know this week if you will not be there~ so we can try it with the ones who will be there. MAke sure your child knows at class if they will be there or not. Thanks

The Year End Dance Review at the Horn Theatre on the CCSN Campus.
At 6:30 on May 28, 2010- FRIDAY
- Please take a moment to go over the program on the bottomof this email so you will know what shoes to bring your child in and which act they are in for our year end show!
DIRECTIONS to HORN
It’s a straight Shot…..30 minutes from my home…Take the 95 freeway to the Salt Lake City Exit, Go to Cheyenne East Exit. Go to the Campus Traffic Light and turn North (Left)Pass the new construction…The big Horn theatre parking lot is on the right. Its easy to get to and to find!
STUDENTS in first act should be in room behind stage by 6:00 !!! Doors open for us all at 5:45.
Tumbling pre-show fun on stage for tumbling classes will be at 6:15
SHOW Tips
1. Make sure all shoes and costume parts are LABLED! We do change shoes during the show so they should have both Tap and Ballet shoes with them and a shoe bag to keep them under their chairs back stage.
2. It is an old dance custom to present your favorite little dancer with FLOWERS after the show. In the past parents of New of Students have said “Why didn’t you tell me”!! ..... My boys prefer a candy bar...
3. Please have your child wear EXTRA MAKE-UP (too much is better than none). Besides being fun, it is necessary to wear so they don’t look washed out!
4. Girls HAIR OUT OF YOUR FACE! poni tails, buns or French braids are great. Tumblers-pull it back but make sure you can tumble in your “do”.
5. All hair bows and hats should be fastened with HAIR CLIPS that will hold it on! You may need extra clips besides the one that came with it, so we don’t interrupt their dances.
6. NO JEWELRY!!
7. Most studios do not allow video cameras...I personally dot mind as long as you don’t block the view for others. Flash photography does bother the performers, so don’t do it!
8. Stay in your seats and don’t let the kids run around…the dancers will be sitting with you if it is not their act...THANKS! The kids have worked too hard to have an audience with no manners!
FALL CLASSES will resume in August when school starts. If you filled out registration form on Picture Day, you are set for next year. If you change your mind and decide not to take next year PLEASE let me know ASAP. I have a tentative schedule of 2010-2011 classes posted in the studio now if you want to check it.

Next show at the rest home ....NOV 11 Veterans Day at 2:00
Costumes are coming home soon...some, this week. PLEASE take care of them! try them on and then keep all the parts together. Safety pin the hair ties and other loose pieces to the costume for storage so you dont loose them. The hair and arm bands and all the pieces are a part of the costume . Please remember to wear all parts of your costume including hair accessorys when we perform and for picture day! The costumes with fluff are best stored upside down on a hanger in the closet. Put hanger through the crotch and they costume will hang out the wrinkles and be nice and fluffy for the shows! The shoe ties I have sent them home in will match the costume. They are for their tap shoes!

Just a note OCT 1
A couple of things...okay 6 things!
1. I can now order ballet shoes and get them for $15. They take a couple of weeks but they are good. Let me know ASAP and I'll make an order if there are a few of you that still need them. Payless seems to only have a few sizes lately. Ill need to know what size you need. Just email me if you want some.
2. The Halloween Thriller Show is still at the Galleria mall on October 24th but they have changed the location from Dick's to Kohl's Court at 3:00 (where Mervyns used to be). I'll send a reminder later but just put that in your memory bank for now. Remember we will wear Halloween costumes!
3. I have also scheduled a show for Veterans Day on Nov 11 @ 2:00...it's a Wednesday and I thought since we have school and dance off that day anyways that we could do a show at the rest home .... So we have a show at Henderson Convelesant Home right on Lake Mead about 2 miles from my home towards the lake. We will wear our Brenda's Shirts and silver belts and black pants and do the Michael Jackson show. It will give the kids another chance to do their songs they have been working hard on.
4. Speaking of Silver belts. I made some and they are at the studio for $2.00 if you want one. Or you can look at them and make your own if you buy the stretch sequins at Wal-mart or Joann's and hot glue the ends together. I would like them all to match so check out the ones at the studio.
5. Everyone that ordered a Brenda's Red shirt should have it by now ..if you didn't get it please let me know because I have sent them home with the kids.
6. It looks like the costume fund raiser is going to be a huge success. Every one seems to be happy about it. Remember Janay will be here Friday to get the pkts and help you with orders, taxes and any other needs you have. You do have till the Oct 6 to get everything in and you also can turn them into me anytime before then and I will give it to her. She told me that as of Oct 1 there is new warmers that have BYU logo and U of U college logos on them. They could be a big seller if you have friends that are fans! Go to her web sight to see them.

3. I have also scheduled a show for Veterans Day on Nov 11 @ 2:00...it's a Wednesday and I thought since we have school and dance off that day anyways that we could do a show at the rest home .... So we have a show at Henderson Convelesant Home right on Lake Mead about 2 miles from my home towards the lake. We will wear our Brenda's Shirts and silver belts and black pants and do the Michael Jackson show. It will give the kids another chance to do their songs they have been working hard on.
4. Speaking of Silver belts. I made some and they are at the studio for $2.00 if you want one. Or you can look at them and make your own if you buy the stretch sequins at Wal-mart or Joann's and hot glue the ends together. I would like them all to match so check out the ones at the studio.
5. Everyone that ordered a Brenda's Red shirt should have it by now ..if you didn't get it please let me know because I have sent them home with the kids.
6. It looks like the costume fund raiser is going to be a huge success. Every one seems to be happy about it. Remember Janay will be here Friday to get the pkts and help you with orders, taxes and any other needs you have. You do have till the Oct 6 to get everything in and you also can turn them into me anytime before then and I will give it to her. She told me that as of Oct 1 there is new warmers that have BYU logo and U of U college logos on them. They could be a big seller if you have friends that are fans! Go to her web sight to see them.

-Its been a great first and second week so far... - Thanks for all your cooropration with the traffic in the neighborhood. Remember please dont honk for your child and drive safe in the area! -I will be measuring for costumes this week. I want to get the order in ASAP. I will have a picture of the costumes in the studio this week or next. All costume money is due on or before the first week in October. $50 for each class costume. -If for some reason you will not be continuing dance classes and will not need a costume let me know before Oct 1 or you will be responsible for the costume. -If any of you are even considering going on the Alaska cruise in June please let me know so I can get that set up if I need to.- I am still trying to set up a halloween show for October. Alaska Cruise
Hi all, Well Im going to set up the 2010 Alaska cruise for our dance group and anyone else that wants to come with us. We were planning on August of 2010 but Im thinking that the dancers will have forgotten all of their dances with that much time off dance.... sooooooooo I was looking at June 29 - July 6 and found the rates for that date. The cruise goes from Tuesday to tuesday. We would fly to Seattle WA then cruise then fly home.
If any of you are interested please let me know ASAP and I will give you more info. (We would need a $300 deposit by December)We need 8 rooms booked to be a group
The flight to Seattle was $299 in August ...I will assume for now that is aprox price for June also.

Cruise 2009
This Year the dancers did a great show on the Carnival Cruise to Mexico. We all had a fun time and are planning our next cruise to Alaska in August 2010
